As a top radio personality for over 40 years in Champaign Urbana Radio, Stevie Jay Khachaturian is known for his enthusiasm, energy and his positive attitude. He has worked with ABC Radio Sports, on several PBS specials, and on stage across the state, the country and Puerto Rico.
Listen to Stevie and his co-host Diane Ducey every morning from 7-9am. His regular radio guests include Hall of Fame player and coach Mike Ditka, Allen Saxe, Ed Martin, various FOX News personalities and his brother Jonny.
He and his wife Janet live in Champaign-Urbana and are blessed with four children, Nathaniel and triplets, Christian, Benjamin and Grace.
Diane got her start graduating from Eastern Illinois in the late 80's, interning on the Saga Radio Stations, then working for K-104 in 1989. She also dabbled in TV, working behind the scenes for years at WCIA-TV Channel 3. Her next stop was in the Cajun Heartland working most of the 90's in Lafayette, Louisiana with 94.5 KSMB. She reunited with Stevie Jay on the corner of Neil and Windsor for 12 years as a radio personality on Lite Rock 97.5 and WDWS with Gary O'Brien's show doing a segment on the upcoming weekend activities. When Stevie Jay started his own station group in C-U, Diane joined at the end of November 2010 co-hosting the 7-9am show. Diane loves being on the air at WGKC, too and was part of the transition when it changed formats from Classic Rock to playing New Country and All Time Favorites now.
Diane is very active in her community, being apart of the Tolono Fun Day committee for over 20 years, emceeing events, President of various boards like Unity West PTO and the Unity Music Boosters as well as on St Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society. Diane wrote for the County Star over a dozen years and now tries to keep Rocket Nation in the spotlight with a back page feature in the paper called "Southern Champaign County TODAY."
Diane married Mike Anderson in 2001. They have 2 kids together: Anna and Aidan. Diane's daughter Gabrielle (ISU) has a job in Milwaukee at Kohl's corporate office. The family loves cars of all kinds, with a few antiques Mike likes to tinker around with as an Illini Collector Car Club treasurer, retired from Krannert Center after nearly 30 years as an attendant.
A former TV anchor for WAND, Lon boasts over 20 years of experience in the sports media market. After almost 8 years co-hosting the Tay and J Show with Jeremy and nearly 2 year co-hosting Tay & Carp, Lon now co-hosts the afternoon show The Drive with Derek Piper.
Their regular radio guests include Illini personalities such as former All-American football player Mikey Dudek, assistant basketball coaches Jamall Walker and Chin Coleman and offensive coordinator of the football team Rod Smith. They also talk with numerous media personalities including Brad Evans, Joe Henricksen, Kevin Wheeler, Stephen Bardo and Bret Behrens.
Lon is the proud father of his two boys, Lucas (who currently attends Arizona State) and Andrew (whom he coaches in both basketball and baseball).
A partner and writer with Jeremy Werner's site Illini Inquirer, Derek boasts almost a decade covering the Illini basketball beat. A local graduate of Centennial High School and the U of I, Derek's degree in sports media helps him bring an unmatched level of recruiting and in-game analysis.
